Ghana’s captain Asamoah Gyan has heaped praises on Jordan Ayew following Ghana’s victory over Mali, lauding his work rate, tenacity and prospect.
Speaking exclusively on Happy FM Monday morning from the team’s base in Port Gentil-Gabon, Gyan said he was shocked at the level of criticisms that were meted out to the Aston villa attacker since he works hard for the team, covers a lot of grass and has the prospect of being one of Ghana’s players soon.
“I didn’t like the barrage of criticism that were hurled at Jordan after our game against Uganda. He’s a young lad and has a lot to learn in the game. The truth is that the way we see the game on the pitch is different from the way those who watch see it. His work rate is good and he covers a lot of grass during our games. In fact during post match reviews, he is mostly the one who is covers a lot of grounds statistically.” Gyan told Happy FM.
Gyan, 31, believes that Jordan will become one of Ghana’s best players with time.
“Jordan will be one of our best players soon. He is one person who listens to advice a lot.” Gyan added.
Gyan scored his 49th official goal for the black when Ghana beat Mali 1-0 to book their place to the quarter-finals of the AFCON.
Ghana plays Egypt on Wednesday.
