Match Commissioner for the the GHALCA G6 semi final game between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak, Oluboi Commodore, has revealed that the game stalled at the end because officials of both clubs decided to change the tournament rules.
The game ended 1-1 after 90 minutes and per the rules of the tournament, they were to go straight into penalty shoot-outs but there were visible signs of confusion as both sides looked utterly flummoxed, not knowing exactly what to do next.
But speaking on Happy FM’s Anopa Bosuo Sports, Oluboi Commodore intimated that management of both teams came into an agreement for a postponement of the game against the laid down rules of the competition.
“After the game which ended 1-1 in regulation time, we were supposed to go straight into penalty shoot-outs. However, we heard that the management of both Hearts and Kotoko had gone into an agreement that the game be postponed. We stood our grounds to ensure that we stuck to the rules of the tournament.” He said.
Hearts of Oak went ahead to win the game 6-5 on penalties to advance to the finals where they are billed to meet Aduana Stars.
