Several students from Bawku Senior High School and Bawku Technical Institute have reportedly sustained injuries following a violent brawl between students of the two institutions.
Local reports indicate that the incident occurred on Tuesday, 25th February, during a peace march organized by school authorities in collaboration with the Kpalwega traditional rulers. The march aimed to promote peace in the area amid escalating Chieftaincy tensions.
According to reports, traditional leaders had proposed the burial of the okra stick, a symbolic ritual intended to foster reconciliation and stability.
However, tensions escalated during the ceremony, leading to violent confrontations between students from both schools. They began pelting stones at each other, disrupting the event and causing multiple injuries.
This incident adds to a series of school clashes across the country in the past two months, particularly in Accra. Other reported incidents include conflicts between Kinbu Secondary Technical and Accra Technical Centre (Greater Accra Region), Kumasi Technical Institute (KTI) and Kumasi Anglican Senior High School (KASS) (Ashanti Region), Salaga SHS (Savannah Region), Islamic Senior High School (ISSEC) (Ashanti Region), and Sokode SHS (Volta Region).
