Black Stars Management Committee Chairman, George Akwesi Afriyie has intimated to Happy FM that they have put measures in place to protect head coach Avram Grant during the teams stay in Egypt.
Rumours are rife on the airwaves that a group of Egyptian nationals are scheming an attack on Black Stars’ trainer Avram Grant when Ghana plays Egypt in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier in Alexandria on Sunday.
Nevertheless, George has assured the supporters of the team to ease because they have made provisions in ensuring that the coach stays safe during and after the game on Sunday.
“We’ve done enough to protect Avram but that’s not to say something bad will happen to him,” George told Happy FM.
“We’re only going to Egypt to play football and not politics. Even the man in question is not bothered by all that’s making round. He doesn’t think about it a bit because if he thinks going to Egypt will endanger his life, he would have told us before our camping here in Dubai and instead, anytime he sees or hears something in regards to that, he forwards it to us”
He continued, “Before he signed his contract, we had a discussion with him on this same issue, but he told us point blank that he’ll be available anytime, anywhere for the team.”
