The Ghana Armwrestling Federation in consultation with the National Sports Authority has named Mr. Michael Appiah Boateng, a businessman and sports enthusiast as the Chairman for the Ashanti Regional Armwrestling Association for an interim term of two (2) years ending December 2019.
Mr. Appiah Boateng will head a seven member team that will be responsible for :
- The Development and Promotion of Armwrestling in Schools, Communities and the entire Region.
- Sanctioning and Managing of Armwrestling Activities.
- Formation of Clubs.
- Institution of a Regional Armwrestling League
- Soliciting for support for development and engaging developing partners.
- Organization of Annual Regional Congress etc.
Other members of the Association are Hon. Kwabena Nsenkyire – Vice Chairman, Mr. Frank Owusu Ansah – Secretary , Mr. Kwabena Osei Tutu – Dep. Secretary with Dr. Tetteh Opai (KNUST), William Attoh (NSA) as members and Isaac Antwi Boasiako as organizer .
An elective Congress in December 2019 will give way to a substantive 4 year term by elected officers of the Association.
Living the mandate granted us by the National Sports Authority (NSA) and the Ministry of Youth & Sports to spread and expand our developmental activities and programmes to every corner of this country, “we have wholeheartedly accepted the challenge and therefore do not intend to be an Accra based federation but rather stretch our tentacles to all the 10 regions of Ghana. Armwrestling, the most easy to play and fastest growing sport in Ghana has been received by the Ashanti Region hence the training of coaches and many competitions amongst groups and institutions.
