Mahama renovated Cocobod guest house for his luxury- Deputy Minister

A Deputy Minister for Information, Perry Okudjeto, has revealed that ex-president John Dramani Mahama renovated the Cocobod guest house in the Bole district of the Northern Region for his personal use and luxury.
He says all indications points to the fact that a whopping amount of over seven million Ghana Cedis of Cocobod moneys were expended on the said property for the main use of the ex-president.
He posited that in the last couples to the run-up to elections 2016, the ex-president operated from there anytime he was in the Northern Region.
He noted that instead of the then National Democratic Congress(NDC) of expending the said moneys on building the capacity of Cocoa farmers, the then government chose to use this large amount of moneys on the luxury of the ex-president.
‘Am reliably informed that the ex-president heavily operated from the said facility at the detriment of the impoverished Cocoa farmers across the country’ he maintained.
Perry Okudjeto made this revelation in an interview with Kwame Afrifa Mensah, host of the ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ on Accra-based Happy FM.
He admitted even though the property was an old COCOBOD property; it was heavily renovated with COCOBOD money for the luxury of the ex-president.
According to him, this assertion has been corroborated by the Spokesperson for the ex-president Joyce Bawa Mongtari in her interactions with the media.
He added that the spokesperson has revealed that in the last couple of months before the ex-president losing power to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) operated from there.
He added the various security agencies are investigating the scenario for the expensive renovations on the said building.
And details will be made available for the general public he posited.
