Medeama to abandon Hearts game over referee

Operations Director for Medeama SC, John Cudjoe has declared that they will not honour the Week 29 league game against Hearts of Oak at the Accra sports stadium if referee O.B Amankwaa is not replaced.

John Cudjoe made statement after disclosing that their pending case at the Match Review Panel of the Ghana Football Association has not been finalized and therefore they do not expect the same referee to be chosen to officiate in a game involving two teams that still harbours the ambition of winning the league.

“We do not have confidence in him after what he did to us at Techiman. How can a referee who we have a pending issue with be appointed to steer a match involving two teams that could mathematically win the league after his diabolic display against us at Techiman, and what baffles me is that the appointment committee is fully aware that the case is at large, but they’be still decided to choose him for such a game. We have also decided on not honouring the match up until he’s changed,” he said on Happy FM’s Anopa Bosuo Sports.

“We have no trust in him to deliver because of what he did at Techiman, where he made sure we came home with nothing.”

“Was referee Domfeh not changed as the centre referee after vehement protest from Aduana stars in their game against Wa All stars? Why same can’t be done for us, and even if we’re coerced into playing and on the field of play he starts to show glimpses of the mistakes he did at Techiman, we wouldn’t have choice than to walk off the field, period.”

Medeama Sc occupies fifth position on the league log with 42 points as against Hearts of Oak’s 45 points on third position with two matches to finish.
