Happy FM in collaboration with Donewell Insurance has launched the annual blood donation drive. The event took place on Friday August 2,2024 at the 37 Military Hospital Blood Bank, Car pack.The theme for this years’ event “Be a Hero; Donate Blood” emphasizes the need for blood donation to keep a safe amount of blood supplies for those in need.
The initiative was strongly supported by key stakeholders in the medical sector including the National Blood Service and the 37 Military Blood Bank.The event was graced by Cecilia Bruce, Marketing and Business Development Manager of Donewell Insurance – Medical Officer at the National Blood Service, Dr. Steve Paintsil – Acting Lab Manager of 37 Military Hospital, Lt. Col Kingsley Ackah – Head of 37 Blood Bank, Major Nana Yaa Snyper.
Cecilia Bruce the Head of Marketing & Business Development of Donewell Insurance spoke about the expectations and why Donewell Insurance consistently partners Happy FM to promote voluntary blood donation.‘’Donewell Insurance is dedicated to this cause due to the fact that as an insurance provider, we have seen firsthand the critical need for blood in emergency situations, particularly for road accident victims.
At Donewell, our mission goes beyond providing solutions and supporting our clients. We are also committed to supporting our clients and supporting agencies such as National Blood Service and blood banks in fulfilling their mandates. This blood donation drive is close to our hearts, and as a brand, we’re proud to provide a safety net in times of need. We’ll continue to collaborate, promote, and encourage blood donation to save lives,” she added.
Medical Officer at the National Blood Service, Dr. Steve Paintsil in his address expressed gratitude to Happy FM and Donewell Insurance for supporting the National Blood Service, by holding the annual donation drive to help fill up blood banks across the country. He also mentioned that this initiative continuous to create awareness about voluntary blood donation and the lives being saved. “Over the past 8 years, Happy FM has been supporting the National Blood Service by organizing voluntary blood donation. The initiative has helped provide blood to many blood centers.
The blood is distributed to both private and public centers. This initiative has helped save lives including accident victims, pregnant women who have bled excessively and many other conditions. We have been able to donate more than 1,200 units due to this CSR initiative.” The Programs Manager for Happy FM, Kwabena Ampong mentioned that, this year, the target for donors is a minimum of 150 viable voluntary donors to help stock up the National Blood Bank, and the 37 Military Hospital blood bank. “We are committed to giving back to our community and making a positive impact on the lives of Ghanaians.
Through this initiative, we hope to raise awareness about the importance of blood donation and encourage more people to become heroes by giving blood. The blood donation drive is open to the public, and Happy FM invites all eligible donors to participate.
Registration begins at 8:00 am, and the donation process will run from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday, 28th September, at the STC Bus Terminal-Madina,” he said.The Happy FM / Donewell Insurance Blood Donation Drive 2024 is officially launched and every Ghanaian is entreated to voluntarily give blood. Be a hero; give blood!!!
