Ghana’s Black Galaxies are set to depart Accra on Friday morning for their decisive second-leg clash against Nigeria in the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers.
The team, led by head coach Didi Dramani, will leave from Kotoka International Airport, heading to Uyo, the capital of Nigeria’s Akwa Ibom State, for the high-stakes encounter scheduled for Saturday, December 28, 2024.
The first leg, played last Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium, ended in a gripping goalless draw as both sides struggled to convert their chances. Since then, coach Dramani has been working tirelessly to fine-tune his squad, aiming to break through Nigeria’s defenses and secure a ticket to the CHAN tournament.
Both teams are fully aware of the stakes. The winner of this fixture will earn a coveted spot in the 2025 CHAN tournament, set to take place from February 1 to 28 across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. This tournament offers a significant platform for home-based players to shine on a continental stage and attract international attention.
Ghana holds a psychological edge, having eliminated Nigeria on penalties in their previous CHAN qualification encounter two years ago. The Black Galaxies are determined to repeat history and secure back-to-back qualifications over their fierce West African rivals.
