Head coach of Ghana’s Black Meteors, Ibrahim Tanko having hailed his lads after the qualification for the U-23 AFCON tournament in Morocco, expressed his displeasure at the number of chances forward Daniel Afriyie Barnieh failed to convert during the game.
According to him, the former Hearts of Oak striker(Afriyie Barnieh) could have put Ghana two or three goals ahead although his overall performance was good.
Ghana’s U-23 team needed only a goalless draw after the first leg ended 1-1 in Annaba, but they managed to clinch a great win.
Abdul Fatawu Issahaku scored the decisive goal in the 12th minute, thanks to a brilliant cross from Ernest Nuamah who beat his marker.
However, the Black Meteors(Ghana) failed to convert numerous chances with Afriyie Barnieh missing most.
Speaking on Barnieh’s performance after the match, coach Ibrahim Tanko said, “I think Barnieh did well though. He spoilt a lot of chances but his general play was good”.
“You can’t just use one game to judge a player, he just moved to Europe. I’m sure he will settle well at his club before the tournament.”
Afriyie Barnieh recently completed a move to Swiss club FC Zurich in February and has just had eight minutes of playtime in four matches for the club.
