2023 Salah Food Fest: First round ends as four teams secure slots to the grand finale

The highly anticipated 2023 Happy Salah FoodFest began with a bang as the first preliminary round of the inter-zongo cooking competition took place in Kasoa.

This annual event aims to foster harmony and unity within the Muslim community while celebrating their culinary traditions.

With teams representing four zongo communities, the competition was fierce as each group aimed to secure a spot in the grand finale.

A total of eight teams participated in the thrilling cook-off, showcasing their culinary skills and battling it out for a chance to shine in the final showdown. The teams in contention were Survivor Ladies and Uniques Ladies of Kasoa Zongo, Obaapa Rice and Chop Better of Abeka Zongo, Blessed Hands and Ruky’s Special of Tuba Zongo, as well as Classic Ladies and Sabon Baes of Sabon Zongo.

Throughout the competition, the atmosphere was electrifying with artiste performances, musical chairs and giveaways from sponsors. Tantalizing aromas filling the air and the sound of sizzling pans echoing across the venue. Each team showcased their unique recipes, combining traditional flavors with innovative techniques to create mouthwatering dishes that reflected their cultural heritage.

After a grueling battle in the kitchen, Sabon Baes emerged victorious, securing the honour of representing Sabon Zongo in the grand finale. Their exquisite culinary creations wowed the judges and demonstrated their exceptional culinary prowess. Blessed Hands of Tuba, who showcased their own remarkable skills also secured their spot in the final.

Survivor Ladies of Kasoa and Obaapa Rice of Abeka put up a commendable fight, earning themselves a spot in the finals as well.

The teams that advanced to the final received generous packages from the event’s sponsors, including Tasty Tom, Frytol, Fortune rice, Bel Beverages, Bel-Aqua, and Belpak. These sponsorships not only highlights the importance of the of the inter-zongo cooking competition, but also serve as a testament to the support and recognition the Happy Salah FoodFest has gained within the community.

As the Happy FM Salah FoodFest continues its journey, the next stop, Nima, promises to bring a more thrilling culinary battle and gastronomic delights. With two more prelims to go, the competition intensifies, leaving spectators eager to witness the talents and creativity of the participating teams.
