The Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, formerly known as the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, is Ghana’s most visited tourist site according to the 2023 Ghana Tourism Report.
The iconic monument, which underwent closure in 2022 for renovations, officially reopened on Tuesday, July 4, 2023. Since its reopening, the park has attracted an impressive 208,577 visitors, surpassing Aburi Gardens, which held the top spot in 2022.
Aburi Gardens has now fallen to fifth place among the country’s ten most frequented tourist destinations. The report also emphasizes the remarkable improvement of several tourist sites, notably the Manhyia Palace Museum, which re-entered the list of the ten most visited sites in Ghana for the first time since 2019.
