The Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has disclosed that the Black Galaxies will get a huge reward if they qualify for the 2023 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament to be staged in Algeria.
Ghana is close to making a return to the tournament after beating Nigeria 2-0 in the first leg of the qualifiers at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Sunday.
However, the issues of bonuses have been raised in the media as reports indicate the team is yet to receive its bonuses after eliminating Benin in the preliminary stage.
Henry Asante Twum in an interview on Happy 98.9FM clarified issues on the bonuses and indicated the team is focused on qualifying for the tournament.
“Before the first leg against Nigeria, the Ministry sent representatives to assure the players that their winning bonuses will be paid.
“They completed the double over Benin in the first round and the ministry has said they are very much aware of their obligations. I’m not really sure the issue of settlement of bonuses should be something we should be worried about now.
“Looking at the crucial stage of the qualifiers we are in and just when we are about to make history, this shouldn’t be an issue for the players. They would even get a much bigger reward if they can qualify for the tournament itself.
“So yes, we know our obligations and would act accordingly.” He added.
Ghana has failed to qualify for the CHAN tournament in the last three editions.
The Black Galaxies will play the return leg against Nigeria at the Moshood Abiola Sports Stadium in Abuja on Saturday.
