A beautiful free-kick converted by Mohammed Kudus was the catalyst for Ghana on Thursday evening as it inspired the Black Stars to beat the Central African Republic 2-1.
The two national teams locked horns today at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in the final Group E match of the qualifiers for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
Despite playing as the home side, the Black Stars did not have control of the contest until late in the first half.
The visitors, Central African Republic had a bright start to the game and caused a lot of problems for the Black Stars.
After mounting pressure on Ghana, the away team managed to take the lead through striker Louis Mafouta in the 25th minute.
After going behind, the Black Stars upped their game in a bid to get the equaliser to restore parity.
Although the side will struggle, the Black Stars stayed in the game and scored through Mohammed Kudus a few minutes before the first half break.

In the second half, substitute Ernest Nuamah grabbed the winning goal for Ghana in the 82nd minute to seal a 2-1 win for the Black Stars.
Today’s comeback win means Ghana has qualified for the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast.
