The Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif has given a breakdown of the $3 million expenditure at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Black Stars journey in Cote D’Ivoire for the 2023 AFCON ended at the group stage with the team not winning a single game.

However, reports about the team’s $3 million expenditure at the tournament infuriated Ghanaians who demanded for clarity.

Appearing before the Parliamentary Select Committee on Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif said the amount also captures pre-tournament expenditure.

It also covers per Diems, flight and feeding of the team.

“Our team, once they are here and they are going to Cote D’Ivoire, you have to charter a flight and that flight comes at a cost.”

“Apart from you flying all of them in business class, you also have to charter a flight…and when they finish, you get a flight to bring them back so those are the costs.”
