Featherweight Joseph Commey, says his target is to win a gold medal at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
The Ghanaian boxer defeated his opponent from New Zealand Alex Mukuka to win Ghana’s first medal in the competition.
He earned a unanimous 5-0 win in the bout against his opponent.
Speaking after the bout with Happy 98.9FM, Commey said his focus is on the gold title.
“I want to win the gold medal, and this year we will win the gold”.
“In my weight category, I will defeat all my opponents. I have trained hard and I know I would make it to the medal zone. I have worked hard and I deserve a gold medal”.
He urged Ghanaians to keep praying for him to win the gold medal.
“They should keep praying for me and I will bring the gold medal”.
Joseph Commey has become the first athlete to secure a medal for Team Ghana in the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
