Black Stars captain Andre Ayew scored a brace to help Ghana record a 2-0 win over Sudan in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
The Black Stars of Ghana maintained their perfect start in the ongoing campaign recording their third straight at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
Andre Ayew scored the opening goal of the game in the 16th minute from a set-piece.
The Swansea star elected himself for a freekick few meters from the box after Samuel Owusu forced a foul from a Sudan defender, and he curled it brilliantly over an unmoved human wall.
Sudan nearly came up with an equalizer a few minutes later but John Boye was quick to react to prevent the striker from hitting the target.
On the 28th minute mark, Samuel Owusu failed to extend Ghana’s lead after his effort was blocked by the Sudan goalkeeper.
Senegalese referee Maguette Ndiaye ignored a penalty call from the bench of the Sudanese after Mohammed Abdel was brought down by John Boye.
Andre Ayew scored just some few minutes before half time but the goal was disallowed.
Andre Ayew got a brace with a solo run on the flank when he received the ball from Emmanuel Lomotey.
He cut in from the flanks and curled a beauty past goalkeeper Ali Abdalla to give Ghana a 2-0 lead on the 79th minute to record his second goal of the game.
The win was Black Stars coach Charles Kwabla Akonnor’s first in a competitive game since his appointment earlier this year.
The Black Stars travel to Sudan for the reverse fixture on November 17, 2020.
