Ghana’s Black Queens suffered a 3-0 defeat to Chile in their opening Group B match on Wednesday at the Starlight Sports Complex in the ongoing 2020 Turkish Women’s Cup.

The first half ended goalless with both teams failing to find the back of the net.

Chile came back stronger in the second half and registered their first goal due to a mistake committed by goalkeeper Fafali Dumeshi in the 57th minute.

The South American side quickly double their lead in the 59th minute after the Ghanaian defenders had gone to sleep.

Chile profited from another defensive blunder to add the third in the 67th minute.

Coach Mercy Tagoe and her Queens couldn’t contain the might of the Chileans throughout the 90 minutes .

Goals from Karen Araya, Camila Sàez and Daniela Pardo has sent the Chileans to the top of the group B table with 3 points and 3 goals in the Gold City Cup.

Ghana’s next match will be against Northern Ireland B at the Gold City Sport Complex on Saturday, 7 March, 2020.
