A member of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) communications team, Padmore Baffour Agyapong, has said that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) owes all Ghanaians an apology for deceiving us.
Speaking on a panel discussion on the ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show with Sefa Danquah, he mentioned that initially the NDC claimed the declaration of the 2020 election results was pre recorded. However, in the party’s petition to the Supreme Court, it acknowledged that the declaration made by the EC chair was “broadcast live on radio, TV and electronic media”.
He furthered that the party must also apologize for what they said concerning the election results that contradicted what they mentioned in their petition to the Supreme Court.
“Peter Otokunor and the NDC had a press conference declaring Mahama to have won the elections. Former President Mahama himself stated that he had won this election so the NDC made continuous demonstrations to show that the elections were rigged”.
Now in their petition, they claim that they have not won the elections. They said they didn’t get 47 percent and that is the same way Nana Addo didn’t get the 50 plus 1 even though he had a higher percentage than them. So how did you then tell your followers that you have won the elections? Do you see how dangerous our comments can be to the country? If the followers and the police clash turned out bloody, it would have been because of the lies that the NDC, Otokunor and Mahama said”, he stated.
Former President John Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have petitioned the Supreme Court to annul the results of Election 2020. Mr. Mahama also wants the apex court to order for a re-run of the polls hence the need to issue a fiat restraining President Akufo-Addo from holding himself as the President-elect.
