The vice chairman of the Ghana League Club Association (GHALCA), Alex Akummey has revealed to Ghana’s number one Sports Station Happy FM, that the 2019 President Cup is scheduled for Dec. 15.
This he said, is a decision of GHALCA. The 2019 President Cup was postponed due to a heavy downpour in September. The game was held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Organizers had to reschedule the game and proposed 15 December as convenient date for the game to be honored.
Speaking in an interview with Odi Asempa on Wamputu Sports he said, “The replay of the President Cup will be played on the 15th December 2019 if all the parties involved agreed to it”.
“This game is to honor the President of the country. It will be ideal to play it before the leagues starts”.
“I believe the clubs will honor it because they have signed contracts for which some monies have gone already”, he stated.
He further said they were unable to fix a date for the past two months due to Asante Kotoko’s participation in the Africa club competition.
“We could not play it earlier due to Kotoko’s participation in the Confederation cup. Now that they’re out and things are calm, the replay can come on”.
The game if agreed by both clubs will be played a week before the Ghana Premier League commences.
“It is actually good for the clubs because it will be just a week before the league start which will be a form of preparation for them”, he concluded.
