Legon Cities will welcome Asante Kotoko to the Accra Sports Stadium in this match day two fixture of the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League to be played on Friday 3 January, 2019.
The game will be played under flood lights after government gave clearance for certain matches to be played after a review of the Okudzeto Commission report.
This particular game has generated a lot of interest as musician Shatter Wale will be performing before the game kicks off as part of measures to draw supporters to the venue from the home club.
Legon Cities striker Sadick Sulley speaking to LCFC TV said he is confident of victory against Asante Kotoko on match day, “I am very confident and on Friday I will score two goals against Kotoko God willing. It is something I have planned to do I believe we will take the 3 points”.
“Going up against Kotoko is no big deal for us because we are footballers just like that are. We are well prepared to take all the points at the Accra Sports Stadium so we are not worried at all. We know who they are but we also believe in our capabilities.”, he added.
Legon Cities FC head coach, Goran Barjaktarevic also said, “I play every game to win. Of course, I have a lot of respect for Kotoko and I know they have good players but am very confident of my players. Like I said I respect each opponent but I want to win against every one of them”, the gaffer said.
Head coach of Asante Kotoko Maxwell Konadu hopes his side will improve on their match day one performance against Eleven Wonders which they won by a lone goal.
“The game was very difficult. We understand because it’s the first match of the season. From last week, we planned what we wanted to play. Initially things went well but eventually we were not able to score more goals,” Coach Maxwell Konadu told reporters after the game.
Legon Cities FC lie 10th on the league table with a point while Kotoko are 6th with 3 points.
