Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has challenged Management of MenzGold Ghana Limited to seek legal redress if they affirm the Securities and Exchanges Commission (SEC) orders for them to shut down are illegal.
“If MenzGold thinks what they SEC is doing is not right, what is the right thing to do, they should drag them to court and challenge their action…,” he opined whiles on an Accra based radio station.
Kwesi Pratt also added that, he could not understand some section of Ghanaians particularly celebrities, who are one of the key beneficial of the activities of MenzGold have taken to social media to launch a verbal attack on SEC for their action against the gold dealership company.
SEC in a letter dated September 7, ordered the gold trading firm to suspend their operations with the public with immediate effect.
According to them, they have thoroughly investigated the activities of Menzgold and have found that, the Nana Appiah Mensah-owned firm does not have the license to trade in gold collectibles from the public.
Following this orders, Management of Menzgold announced Thursday morning that it has temporarily halts its collectibles and any new business related to its gold vault market with immediate effect.
