Chairman of the Ashanti Regional serial callers Association for New Patriotic Party (NPP), Wofa Anokye, says the serial callers in the Region are still on strike, even though some senior members of the party have called on them to remain calm.
Speaking in an interview, on ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show on Happy FM, he said ‘’some of us (serial callers) have been calling into programs on Radio for close to 12years and when we tell the executives our grievances Kwabena Nsenkyire wrote us off,’’ he lamented.
According to Wofa Anokye, Kwabena Nsenkyire, 1st Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who is also the Ashanti Regional director of National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) called for the training of five new people from the various constituencies to become NPP serial callers when they (serial callers) complained about their poor state, despite the NPP being in power.
‘’He called us troublemakers and always giving the party problems. That is the reason why we burnt our phones as a way of registering our displeasure with the leadership of our party.’’
The aggrieved volunteer communicators, claim that despite their contributions to the party’s victory in 2016 polls, several of their members are struggling to make ends meet while regional executives and government appointees in the region are living in comfort and sometimes flaunt cash and goodies they have gotten since the party assumed office.
Like many places, radio host in Ghana invite listeners to call in and comment –on-air during live talk shows. Sometimes, the callers call in on a whim. But most of the time in Ghana, dedicated serial callers have become part of the Democratic dispensation and dominate the airwaves during political discussions and debate.
