Aspiring National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Anita Desoso has said that irrelevant campaign songs for former President John Mahama as a build up to the 2016 general election was one of the key factors that contributed to the loss of the NDC.
Desoso made her assertion known whiles speaking on Happy FM’s ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show.
According to her, the NDC as a Party is very fragile in communication because campaign grounds meant for preaching their message to Ghanaians in 2016 were used to play “irrelevant songs.”
“Our message didn’t go down well with Ghanaians because our campaign grounds were used to play irrelevant songs and most of the NDC elders did not understand what was going on. Ghanaians also thought we don’t have any good message for them even though we had,” she disclosed.
She also added that the party structures could not also perform to expectation as they lacked resources. The various campaign groups which managed to secure funding, failed to work to deliver victory for the Party.
The NDC lost the elections which came to the party as a real shock as it was confident of winning, due to the massive infrastructure development that was witnessed across the country under ex-President Mahama who was then the flagbearer of the Party.
Groups such as Zongo for Mahama, Youth for Mahama, Celebrities for Mahama and a host of others were formed with some political watchers arguing that those groups were largely formed to make money by their leaders rather than do any serious campaign work.
Madam Desoso stated that the time had come for Party structures to be respected and given the necessary support, adding that never again would such campaign groups be allowed to operate on their own during elections.
