Ghanaian midfielder Isaac Cofie will miss Sporting Gijon Copa del Rey clash against Yaw Yeboah’s CD Numancia after picking red card in last Sunday’s 1-0 defeat at Deportivo La Coruna.
Cofie has established himself as a key figure in Ruben Baraja’s side since joining on a two-year deal this summer.
The 26-year-old has featured in all of the Rojiblancos four games, earning raves of applaud from the club legends and pundits.
But he will not be able to serve their fans another scintillating display at the Nuevo Estadio Los Pajaritos on Thursday when they come up against CD Numancia in the Copa del Rey after he was given an early shower for a two bookable offense in their 1-0 loss against Deportivo La Coruna.
The former Genoa midfielder will subsequently miss the Spanish LaLiga encounter against the same opposition on Sunday at El Molinon but will return for the clash against Osasuna in Pamplona.
Cofie however joined his teammates in training on Tuesday morning as they prepare for the crucial match on Thursday, after they were given a day rest.
Meanwhile, Yaw Yeboah is expected to keep his place in Numancia starting line-up after he was adjudged the most valuable player in the 1-0 win Elche on Sunday.
