Ghanaian dynamic songwriter and Gospel Singer, Japheth Adjetey, has debunked the saying from other artistes that ‘there is nothing like a song dropping in my spirit’.
Speaking on the award-winning entertainment show ‘The Late Nite Celebrity Show’ on e.TV Ghana, Japheth revealed the various ways he gets the songs he writes and sings.
He told Foster Romanus, the host of the show, that he usually does not sit to write a song or compose them but mostly he wakes up in the morning singing a new song.
He said” If it comes to the gospel, I usually don’t sit to say I want to write a song or to compose a song. Most of the time maybe I wake up singing a new song.
Sometimes during my prayer time or quiet time, I hear a song and I take my phone then I record it and then write the lyrics.
He added that sometimes, he is inspired by his guitar or an instrument he might be playing.
Some Ghanaian gospel musicians have come out to say that there is nothing like getting a song in the spirit but Japheth disagreed with this saying.
He went further in his disagreement to site an experience he encountered through which he got a song in the spirit.
“I remember one time we had an all night in my church with Rev. Ampiah-Kwofi, he was praying and making declarations for people, he actually prayed for me as well.
“The keyboardist was playing a tune, while he was playing, a song’s lyric started playing in my head. So I believe it was the Holy Spirit that brought that song to me,” he said.
