Former Minister of Transport, Dzifa Attivor, has been defeated in the Volta Regional Chairmanship race of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In a keenly contested election between the incumbent Chairman, Kwadwo Gyapong and Dzifa Attivor during the party’s Regional Delegates Congress held in the Volta Regional Capital, Ho, on Saturday to elect various officers to lead the party for the 2020 general Elections, Dzifa Attivor lost with 374 Votes while Mr. Gyapong retained his position, as the Chairman of the Region with 491 Votes.
It was a double dose of defeat in the camp of the former transport minister as her protégé and special aide, Egypt Kudoto also lost out in his re-election bid for the regional Youth organizer. Mathias Alago snatched the position from him with a 4 vote margin, 51 against 47 votes.
For the Regional Secretaryship contest a former DCE for Akatsi North James Gunu dismantled the aspirations of a third-term seeking incumbent, Simon Amegashie-Viglo and two other contenders including, George Loh, former Member of Parliament of North Dayi.
Mr. Gunu polled 494 votes against the incumbent’s unimpressive 82 votes, and Mr. Loh’s 271 votes and Mnfred Nuku-Dei’s 20 votes.
However, Mr. Dan Agboka Dzegede and Kafui Agbleze retained their seats unopposed as Mr. Dan Agboka Dzegede and Kafui Agbleze respectively. Below is the full list of elected Volta Regional executives of the NDC.
