Born Sylvanus Dodji Jeoffrey, Captain Planet has revealed that singing about guys is something he will never do but he will always sing about girls because it is a marketing strategy.
In a recent interview on e.TV Ghana’s, entertainment talk show, The Late Nite Celebrity Show, he revealed that, “I like mentioning girls names in my songs because, it’s a marketing strategy, when you mention a girl’s name in a song, they feel like you are talking to them. Girls are like that, they appreciate whatever you do for them.”
He said that he came to this realization after meeting some girls who approached him to say happily that he had mentioned their names in some of his songs.
“Some girls see me and say you mentioned my name in your song ‘Anita’, but me what do I know, so I realized that it’s marketing strategy,” he said.
On the other hand he does not feel the same fondness for his fellow men.
He said, “As for guys, the moment they set eyes on you, they don’t like you, first of all they feel like their girlfriends can easily be attracted to what you are saying or you have these corny words to use on their girlfriends, so I don’t like singing about guys. Guys I will not sing for you, I will always sing for the girls.”
Female names like ‘Adwoa Abrefi’, ‘Serwaa Akoto’, ‘Candy’, ‘Wendy’, Maadwoa’ among others have been mentioned in his songs.
