Dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah Mensah, who is known in the music industry as Shatta Wale has recounted how his father once ordered their security guard to lock him out of their home.
In an interview with DJ Advicer on Happy FM‘s Ayekoo After Drive show, he stated that his dream to become a musician culminated in his father barring him from entering their home.
The ‘Gringo‘ hitmaker was asked why he went through hardship during his formative years in music when his father was a known rich man.
“My daddy was around but he was not getting to the place we wanted to go,” Shatta Wale told Happy FM.
“One day Joint 77 and I were hungry and we decided to walk from Dansoman to my house in Korle Gonno, but when we got there the security guy told us my daddy didn’t want to see me.”
“I grew up in a broken home so I know how difficult it is to be in this situation.”
The Shatta Movement boss is currently on a media tour promoting his upcoming ‘Reign’ album – which is scheduled to come off on Saturday October 13, 2018, at the Fantasy Dome at the Ghana International Trade Fair.
