A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communication team, Alhaji Naziru, has stated that the minority in Ghana’s Parliament, Volta River Authority (VRA) together with Africa Center for Energy Policy (ACEP) are supposed to be commended for rising against the AMERI deal renegotiation which got the Energy Minister Mr. Boakye Agyarko dismissed.
Reacting to the AMERI deal saga on Happy FM’s ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show, he said, “Thank the Minority, VRA and ACEP for their effort in kicking against the AMERI renegotiation. This is corruption, but democracy has striven.”
On Monday, President Nana Akufo-Addo dismissed, Minister for Energy, Boakye Agyarko. The decision to relieve him off his duty comes after the President was allegedly misled into approving the new AMERI deal which had been rejected by Parliament by Executive Order.
According to the communications directorate at the presidency, Mr Agyarko must “hand over his office to the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, John Peter Amewu, who will act as Minister for Energy, until a substantive appointment is made.”
However, the embattled former Energy Minister took to his Facebook wall and said; “When the dust settles my side would be heard. Thank you”.
