President of the republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will embark on a massive shake up of his government following the ousting of Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko.
President Akufo-Addo yesterday August 6, 2018 relieved the Minister of Energy, Mr. Boakye Agyarko, of his position following two weeks of controversy resulting from the renegotiated AMERI deal, which was presented to parliament after the President gave an executive approval to the deal.
According to reports, some individuals close to the President have urged him to douse the seeming pressure on his administration by changing, and in some cases, removing some key ministers from his cabinet.
Checks by Happyghana.com’s Joseph Nii Ankrah, reveals that the President is bowing to the pressure hence his decision to oust the Energy Minister.
In a statement signed by Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, President Akufo-Addo ordered Mr. Boakye Agyarko to hand over his office to the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Mr Peter John Amewu, who will be acting temporarily as Minister for Energy, until a substantive appointment is made.
This is said to be one of the many casualties to hit the appointees of the Akufo-Addo led government as sources reveal that more Ministers will soon be relieved of their positions or sent to other ministries.
Information Minister, Mustapha Hamid, Minister of Education, Matthew Opoku-Prempeh, Minister of Sanitation, Joseph Kofi Adda are among the names that have popped up.
The source further noted that the Information Ministry is to be handed to current deputy Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah.
