Deputy Minister for Defence, Major Derek Oduro has said that the presidential bodyguard who pushed the old man who approached President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo from the crowed while in his car, must be applauded for what he did.
According to Member of Parliament (MP) for Nkoranza North, the President’s security is paramount and must not be compromised.
“The bodyguard did no wrong for pushing the man. Even though the man might have a clear conscience for approaching the president, the way and manner he came from the crowed is very wrong. Moreover the president was in his car, who knows if the man had in his hand grenade?” he told Kwame Afrifa-Mensah on Happy FM’s ‘Epa Hoa Daben’.
He added “the guy must be awarded for stopping the man. He acted professionally and there was not wrong in that.”
A 33-second video that has gone viral on social media, has a man who was forcefully trying to get a handshake from President Nana Addo, but even before he could get closer, he was heavily pushed and crashed to the floor by the presidential bodyguard.
The man is seen confidently inching towards the president’s car chanting “Nana Nie!!!” before he was met by that pitiless push that crashed him to the floor.
