Former President John Mahama, Member of Parliament for Assin Central Kennedy Agyapong and other top guns in Ghana’s political space, may also be investigated by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service over claims that they benefitted from bribes by investor friends linked to GFA boss, Kwesi Nyantakyi.
In his statement to the CID, Mr Nyantakyi revealed that an amount of $8 million was given to Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of 2016 general elections.
This adds a new twist to this investigation that was triggered by Number 12 -Anas’ latest investigation on football and politics.
It emerged that in the video, the embattled Football president is heard using the names of the president Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia to extort money from persons he thought were potential investors into the Ghanaian economy.
