The Ghana Volleyball Association (GVA) has organised the 2018 Intensive Edition of the international coaches’ course at the Media Centre of the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday.
International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) instructor, Sherif El Shemerly from Egypt, who is also the chairman of the Coaches’ Commission of the CAVB is in Ghana to support the Ghanaian coaches after the Black Spikers performed admirably at the African Championship last year.
Addressing the media, The President of Ghana Volleyball Association Paul Atso, who also doubles as the First Vice for the Ghana Olympic Committee, underlined the importance of the course to the graduate coaches.
“Every year we do one or two courses for coaches and now is you the time for the participants to put all those courses together and let it manifest on the players that produce.”
“This particular course is was a very short one. We had one in December but this one is to put individuals who will move into the various regions and put our program for the youth development,” Atso explained.
“We have brought coaches who are attached to identify players in the region, which we are going be used in the various national teams especially Northern, Upper East, Volta and Western regions. I believe these coaches have taken advantage of this course and will not go back home and put their certificates under their pillow and sleep over it.”
