Indonesian side Persib sold 1,000 Michael Essien shirts within three weeks

Around 1,000 Michael Essien shirts have been sold by Persib just three weeks after the Ghanaian star signed for the club.
Persib supporters, known as Bobotoh, are excited about the former Chelsea player’s arrival. The Maung Bandung sold a shirt with Michael Essien’s name on the back for Rp255,000 to official fan club members and Rp299,000 to non-members.
The club’s merchandise manager Achmad Gunawan said that the demands for Essien’s shirts come not only from the fans. Current Persib players and their families have also planned to buy the No. 5 shirt.
“Shirts bearing the names such as Kim, Atep, Hariono, Vujovic, and Sergio are still among the most sought-after, but the best-selling ones are that of Michael Essien,” Achmad said.
Persib Bandung sold 5,000 shirts during the Indonesia Soccer Championship (ISC) last year.
