Ghana international, Andre Ayew was dealt two blows on his debut for London side West Ham as he got stretchered off the pitch for an injury while his club also ended up losing the encounter 1-2 to fellow London club, Chelsea.

The Black Stars vice-captain was handed a start by manager Slaven Bilic in the opening Premier League game for West Ham and played 32 minutes before leaving the football pitch.

Andre was chasing Eden Hazard for a ball when he appeared to have pulled a thigh muscle.

The West Ham physio attended to the Ghanaian on the pitch but later indicated to Slaven Bilic the player needs to be substituted.

A dejected Andre Ayew left the pitch making room for substitute Gokhan Tore.

The former Olympique Marseille player joined West Ham as the club’s record transfer fee from Premier League rivals Swansea City.

Coincidentally, Ayew’s debut for Swansea City in the Premier League was against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge where he scored in the 2-2 draw.

The Ghanaian player ended his first season at Swansea City as the club’s top scorer with 12 goals.
