Asamoah Gyan's manager explains haircut 'ban'

Chief Executive Officer for Asamoah Gyan Group of Companies, Samuel Anim Addo has clarified reports on Asamoah Gyan being part of more than 40 players deemed to have “unethical hair” in the United Arab Emirates Pro League.

The 31-year old goal poacher, who is on-loan at Al Ahli Dubai FC from Shanghai SIPG was reported to be one of 46 players to have been served with a warning letter in regards to his mohawk hairstyle, which the UAEFA frowns upon as they believe could have negative effect on the country’s children.

Anim Addo, however clarified the ubiquitous reports in an interview with Happy FM’s Anopa Bosuo Sports. “All the hullabaloo about this issue is nothing new to us because we’re already aware of the situation. The issue is not about his haircut per say but with the number 3 written in the hair, which the UAEFA discourages.”

“He’s yet to leave the country to Dubai and I can’t tell if he’s gotten rid of it but I’m sure he’ll not take it there because he is fully aware of the regulations there. He does play there with the number in his hair which a clear indication that he is fully aware of the situaion.” Anim Addo added.
