Bad Pitches Are Destroying Our Local Game- Kojo Addae-Mensah

Chief Executive Officer of DataBank Group, Kojo Addae Mensah has bemoaned the poor nature of the pitches clubs use for their Ghana Premier League.
According to the astute banker and staunch football lover, the reports from the pitch assessors for the upcoming league suggest very poor turfs which could be inimical to the expectations of the season.
Speaking on his segment, ‘Kojo’s Thoughts’ on Happy FM’s Anopa Bosuo Sports, Mr. Addae-Mensah argued that the venues for the league matches can only be deemed approved if all other facilities including the pitch are in good condition but that’s not what we are seeing in the report.
“The quality of pitches is very important in football. The criteria for approving a venue for a Premier League club include having a natural green turf or artificial turf and at least an 8 feet inner perimeter but the report I have read says otherwise and this isn’t good for our game. It was clear at the AFCON that most of injuries the players sustained were due to the bad nature of the pitches.” Kojo Addae-Mensah observed.
The Ghana Premier League kicks-off this weekend with six games.
