Ghana Premier League giants. Asante Kotoko have announced the departure of eleven (11) players by mutual consent after the end of the 2023/24 Premier League season.
The Porcupine Warriors have decided to part ways with several players who underperformed in the recently concluded season or whose contracts have expired. Following a sixth-place finish in the domestic top-flight league, the club has released 11 players to make room for new additions.
The list of departing players includes notable names such as captain Danlad Ibrahim and Georges Mfegue, whose contracts have expired. Ugandan international striker Steven Desse Mukwala is also leaving after failing to extend his deal. Former WAFA defender John Tedeku, who joined the club in 2022 on a four-year contract, will no longer be part of the Asante Kotoko family.
Other players leaving the club include Cameroon striker George Mfegue, Ibrahim Danlad, Isaac Oppong, Augustine Agyapong, and Eric Serge Zeze from Ivory Coast, all of whom had their contracts expire. Kalo Ouattara, who joined from Berekum Chelsea before the 2023-24 season, is also leaving.
Additionally, two defenders, Nicholas Osei Bonsu and Sheriff Mohammed, have been released, along with Nicholas Mensah, who missed the 2022-23 season due to a suspension by the Ghana Football Association over fake registration issues.
