The Sector West Commander, Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Stefan Anderson (Sweden), who was the special Guest-of-Honour, was appreciative of the manner the service was held and added that the hospitality, resilience, desire to work and the commitment which GHANENGCOY7 employs to meet task orders, was indeed commendable.

Officer Commanding (OC) Ghana Army Engineering Company 7, Lt Col Winston Luck Kwao Djiyehue was inducted into office on Sunday 24th February, 2019, at a Religious and Induction Service held at Sappers Camp, in the United Nations (UN) Integrated Sappers Camp in Tombouctou, Mali.

The service informs both Commanders and subordinate officers to surrender their will and interest to God, country and the United Nations, as all troops were admonished to be loyal in service and honest in speech.

The officiating clergy – Lt (Rev) Eric Antwi and Imam, Adam Abdallah – later initiated the OC spiritually, for God’s protection throughout his tour of duty, and thereafter entreated troops to be loyal to Command, and to use the mission to write a good name for Ghana and identify their purpose as ambassadors of their nation, as well as find their spiritual bearing with God.

In his initial remarks, Lt Col Djiyehue expressed his gratitude to God and to the Military High Command and head of the Regional Administrative Office present at the ceremony, for their trust in him and cooperation with him, describing the relationship as very healthy for the success of the UN mandate.

Present at the ceremony were Ghana’s Acting Contingent Commander, Commander (Cdr) Ramsy Bamba and some troop contributing countries, Commanding Officers (COs) within Sector West and a representative of the Regional Administrative Officer of the United Nations Multi-Dimensional Stabilization Mission in Mali.
