According to Citi News deep throat sources in the camp of the newly formed party, four persons have so far picked forms to contest the party's flagbearership position.
Although the party is withholding names of the potential candidates, Citi News has picked strong signals that Nana Konadu is seriously considering to contest.
Citi News can also confirm that the party will go to congress on Saturday, October 13 to elect its flagbearer and by extension functional executives in readiness for the 2012 electoral battle.
Ten delegates from all the 230 constituencies will congregate at the Kumasi Sports Stadium to partake in the upcoming event.
When contacted the NDP's Deputy Communications Director, Ernest Owusu Bempah confirmed the news to Citi News.
On Konadu, Owusu Bempah said her decision will be made known within 48 hours.
'Majority of the people, majority of the grassroot supporters were expecting the former first lady to come out and take up the leadership mantle of the party, and I think by Tuesday within 48 hours we might hear something from the former first lady and that is where she is bringing the excitement into the fold of our party.'
He stressed, 'We are waiting definitely that the former first lady if she comes into the race she is definitely going to emerge as the flagbearer of our party; we have four candidates who have picked up their nominations but they have requested we put their names on hold while the whole nation will know who they are later.'
