The Samburu National Reserve, more north, along the great north road through Wamba, Isiolo and Archer’s Post, near the Lololokwe mountain (1980 mtr) and 350 km from Nairobi, is the home land of the Samburu tribe. It was one of the places where George and Joy Adamson raised the lioness Elsa , featuring in the movie ‘Born Free’. A vast number of wildlife species, mammals, reptiles and birds, can be found in the beautiful scenery, on the north bank of the Ewaso Nyiro River. Big herds of African elephants come to drink and bath, reticulated giraffes eat from the acacia trees, lions on hunt for a catch can be watched at close range.

These areas are well worth to visit while on a Kenya safari.
