Granada midfielder Mubarak Wakaso has scored his first goal for the club, but his coach Lucas Alcaraz is worried about a possible burnout as the fight for La Liga survival continues.
In his fourth league game since completing a loan move from Panathinaikos in January, the Ghanaian scored the opener at the Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes as El Grana recorded a 2-1 triumph over Deportivo Alaves.
Issac Cuenca added the second on 53 minutes, before Victor Camarasa pulled one back for the away side.
“Wakaso and Uche [Henry Agbo] are both high tempo players, expansive and full of energy in their play,” Alcaraz said.
“We are probably the team going into matches with the most tiredness of late and it’s bound to have an effect at some point.
“Alaves have gone eleven games unbeaten away from home, so I put a lot of value in this victory, the performance of the players and the support of the fans.”
Wednesday’s win lifts Granada to 19 points from 25 games, but still trapped in the relegation zone as they sit third from the bottom.
Wakaso joined Granada on loan until the end of the season, with an option to buy.
The former Villarreal and Elche man made eight league appearances for Panathinaikos this season prior to his transfer.
