President of Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi, has been elected to the FIFA Executive Council after a keenly contested battle in Cairo Thursday morning.
Mr. Nyantakyi placed second with 31 votes while Almamy Kabele Camara of Guinea polled 37 votes but with CAF needing two representatives on the council, both made it through.
Madagascar’s Ahmad gave a though fight after polling 30, just a shade behind what Nyantakyi amassed.
A distant 4th contestant was Senegal’s Augustin Senghor who only garnered 9 votes.
Kwesi Nyantakyi is currently the president of the Ghana Football Association, chairman of WAFU Zone ‘B’ and the CAF Ethics Committee.
