Emmanuel Adebayor is set to make a shock return to Champions League football by joining Lyon, reports in France say.
The former Arsenal, Tottenham, Real Madrid and Manchester City striker is without a club after leaving Crystal Palace this summer.
The 32-year-old has spent time in Ligue 1 in the past with Metz and Monaco, before joining Arsene Wenger’s side in 2006.
And he is set to join Lyon to bolster their attacking options in Europe’s premier competition, according to L’Equipe.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas said after the club’s 3-0 demolition of Dinamo Zagreb that the club are trying to become stronger offensively and it’s believed that the signing of Adebayor could add to their firepower.
However, goals from Maxwell Cornet, Corentin Tolisso and Jordan Ferri showed Lyon can hold their own in the Champions League and they now top Group H following a draw between Juventus and Sevilla.
